The Shoal Bass
The shoal bass is a beautiful black bass species of golden color with dark tiger-striped patterning. They are native only to the Appalachicola river system of Georgia, Alabama, and northern Florida. This species is predominately found in the Flint, Chattahoochee, and Ocmulgee rivers along with some of their tributaries. However, it is not native to the Ocmulgee. Shoal bass were illegally introduced into the Ocmulgee years ago, and they then thrived due to the perfect habitat that it offers for them. They live and thrive in moving current water and prefer rivers with lots of shoals, rapids, and fast moving water. And as such, they are a very strong species and fight like no other bass! Because they aren’t found anywhere else in the world, they are a very unique species and have rapidly become a bucket-list species for people from all around the world. This beautiful, majestic, world-class fighting fish is definitely one you’ll want to check off your bucket-list!
